PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy sets out how The Terengganu Buddhist Association uses and protects any information that you give us when you use this website.

The Terengganu Buddhist Association is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website; you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

The Terengganu Buddhist Association may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 12 January 2021.

WHAT WE COLLECT

 

The Terengganu Buddhist Association  ensures its compliance with its obligations under the “GDPR” by:

  • keeping personal data up-to-date
  • storing and destroying it securely
  • not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data
  • protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure
  • ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

We may collect the following information:

  • name and job title
  • contact information including email address
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers

 

 

 

What we do with the information we gather

Our legal basis for processing your personal data derives from:

  • Your explicit consent that we can keep you informed about our newsletter, events, and other activities organised by The Terengganu Buddhist Association 
  • The necessity to process date for the purpose of carrying out legal obligations (including, for example, processing data in relation to Gift Aid)
  • The legitimate interest condition, which is when we process your personal data for the purpose of complying with your request for enrolment/registration for events
  • Internal record keeping
  • To improve our products and services.

We may also contact you to inform you about services similar to what we have provided to you previously. In all correspondence, we will give you the option to opt out.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We will keep and delete your information according to our internal policies and will keep it no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes for which we hold it, taking into account relevant legal and regulatory retention requirements (e.g. tax or health and safety requirements) and operational considerations.

Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

  • whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, look for the box that you can click to indicate that you do not want the information to be used by anybody for direct marketing purposes
  • if you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by writing to or emailing us at [email address], or by changing it via your online account (if you have one)
  • by amending your privacy on our website via your online account (if you have one), or the privacy control panel settings

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

Security

IP address

We may collect information about the computer or mobile device from which you access the Site. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual. We use this information for system administration.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of the computer or permanent memory of the mobile device from which you access the Site.

The cookies that we use allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors to the Site and to see how they move around the Site when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way the Site works by, for example, ensuring that users can find what they are looking for easily.

Another cookie the site uses is for the shopping/ordering cart. It contains no personal information, just an array of numbers that represent the products ID and quantity ordered. Its main use is so that the user does not lose their cart if they have a problem with their browser. The cookie is deleted if the user cancels or completes the order, or when it expires (after 2 hours of inactivity)
